His and Her’s Travelers by Kirk Frameworks
Here are a pair of fillet coupled bikes for a couple that wanted complementary but not matching bikes. The paint technique is known as ‘marbleizing’ and looks to be a foot deep even in low light let alone the sun. I like how the marbleizing shows off the contours of the fillets – I put a lot of work into those fillets so like when the paint really shows them off.

Appropriation: stilisti, telaisti o filosofi?
Richard Sachs quotes Marc Jacobs
Where do ideas come from – and where do mine originate? With so much of my life spent with and around bicycles, as well as being a maker of them, I wonder about this. I arrived on the industry’s doorstep by accident and poorly prepared, and have managed to eke out nearly four decades of a career from it all. Some of it can be attributed to beginner’s luck. But those early, innocent days of the 1970s are long gone and I am not. I’m here, still enjoying the trade, the lifestyle, and all things that come with making, riding, and racing bicycles. What cards did I play right to make the cut?
Kaduna Tease & 14bikeco
Kaduna Tease from blunt films on Vimeo.
This is a quick edit of some of the footage shot in Nigeria for 14bikeco. 8 Polo players from London delivered 20 polo bikes to an equestrian resort in Kaduna Nigeria. We built the bikes and played an exhibition tournament at the 'Patrons Cup' at the Kangimi resort. More to come.

Framebuilding is simultaneously mechanical and organic
Question: I was wondering if you ever have an itch do try something out that, while it may up on your for-sale rigs, isn’t motivated by that. And yup, every one is a unique product/ moment/ shot to get it done.
Richard Sachs: thanks atmo. there is nothing i would change on my bicycle frame’s visuals.

How to Own a Bike. By Bill Strickland
I’ve been taking the new Pegoretti out on the lunch ride. It’s among the most beautiful of all the bikes that hang in my shop, or any I’ve ever ridden. It may be, flat-out, the most beautiful, but I have trouble, personally, naming a singular superlative in most things; it certainly is the most distinctive, the most artistic. (…) Read here
The Handmade Directory & Buyers Guide
When people talk of a handmade or custom bicycle they are more than likely referring to having the frame made for them and then choosing the components to best suit that style of the frame (and the size of their bank account). This frame will not exist until its commission.
What we are trying to do is to inform the buying public exactly what they are getting by defining the categories below. Please let us know what you think of these and if we have any glaring omissions ( phil@thmbd.com ).

The Bicycle Academy
The Bicycle Academy - Crowd Funding from The Bicycle Academy on Vimeo.
The Bicycle Academy is a new enterprise providing people with the skills and facilities to design and make their own bikes. Frame building will be taught by the legendary Brian Curtis short weekday courses. As part of the learning process each student will make a frame designed specifically for use in Africa. Once graduated students will be able to use The Bicycle Academy workshop to hone their skills and build their own frames.

David Byrne Bikes @ Urban Velo
When I was a wee lass and David Byrne was fronting The Talking Heads I thought he was a big ‘ol geeky nerd and wanted nothing to do with him, but as I matured I came to appreciate his musical and cultural genius. Then add to that his involvement and promotion of bicycles and I was sold. I knew about his book The Bicycle Diaries, which is now available as an audiobook/T-shirt combo, but I wasn’t aware of so many other projects he has contributed to bike culture and city life in general.
