Lujo gaucho - Case study #4

Il “lusso gaucho” è lo stile, molto accurato sebbene semplice, che sfoggiano nelle migliori occasioni i signori delle pampas argentine, i gauchos. Un lusso che utilizza i pochi materiali a disposizione in quel paese e in quelle praterie: la ‘plata’, ovvero l’argento povero di cui abbonda il territorio, ed il ‘cuero crudo’,ovvero il pellame derivante dallo scuoiamento del bestiame (mucche, pecore o capretti, talvolta anche gli stessi cavalli), conciati approssimativamente ma resi così molto resistenti. Questi due soli elementi, il cuoio e l’argento, forniscono al gaucho tutto l’occorrente per creare ed ornare i propri strumenti di lavoro, dalle selle ai finimenti, dai coltelli ai cinturoni, dai cappelli agli abiti, soprattutto quelli della festa. Nel progettare questa bici fissa avevo in testa la gradevole memoria degli oggetti e dei materiali che, per tanti anni, ho visto ed apprezzato nelle grandi estancias argentine, fra sterminati campi da polo e formidabili scuderie. Il cuoio e l’argento.
The "gaucho luxury" is the style, very accurate, although simple, which boast in the best occasions the lords of the pampas of Argentina, the gauchos. A luxury that uses few materials available in that country and in the prairies: the 'plata', as to say the poor-silver that abounds in the area, and the 'cuero crudo', the lather resulting from the skinning of cattle (cows, sheep or goats, sometimes even the horse), approximately tanned, but made so much resistant. With these two elements, leather and silver, the gaucho provides everything he needs to build and decorate his own work tools, from saddles to harness, from knives to belts, from hats to clothes, especially those for holidays. In designing this fixed gear, I had in mind the pleasant memory of the objects and materials which, for many years, I have seen and recognized in the large estancias of Argentina, among the endless polo fields and the wonderful stables. Goldfinger - Case study #3

Ancora una volta (dopo Bullitt e Zorro) è il cinema ad ispirarmi: il bianco candido degli elegantissimi smoking, indossati con una classe unica da un giovane Sean Connery nei panni di James Bond, affiancato all’immagine, che fin da bambino mi rimase impressa, di quello splendido corpo nudo di ragazza, steso sul letto di 007 e completamente ricoperto di vernice d’oro. Bianco con inserti oro, è l’abbinamento che richiama alla mia memoria un cult movie fra i migliori della serie di 007.

Once again (after Bullitt and Zorro) is a movie to inspire me: the whiteness of the elegant tuxedo worn with unique class by a young Sean Connery in the role of James Bond, alongside the image, that impressed me as a child, of a beautiful girl's naked body, lying on 007’s bed and completely covered with gold paint. White with gold inserts, it is the combination that brings to my memory a cult movie among the top series of 007.

Zorro - Case study #2

Una bici furba (zorro in spagnolo vuol dire furbo, scaltro) perché si nasconde dietro i suoi due volti: quello tranquillo e pacifico di Don Diego de la Vega e quello dell’audace ed inafferrabile Zorro. Come in quel vecchio e celebre manifesto, nel quale Zorro, interamente vestito di nero, brandisce la sua spada luccicante di acciaio affilato, lasciando il suo inconfondibile ‘segno’, fra un lampo azzurro che squarcia il cielo notturno e la scritta, anch’essa azzurra, col nome dell’attore che più autorevolmente ne ha vestito i panni cinematografici, Guy Williams, così questa Zorro si presenta nel suo abito interamente nero, l’acciaio sfavillante e qualche baffo di azzurro.

Like that old and famous poster, in which Zorro, dressed entirely in black, brandishing his gleaming steel sharp sword, leaving his unmistakable 'sign', between a blue flash that pierces the night sky and the words, also blue, with the name of the actor who has most authoritatively dress his clothes on the st, Guy Williams, so this Zorro shows in its dress entirely black, the sparkling steel and some blue whisker.
