La genesi - The genesis

4 giugno 2009: ennesimo viaggio di lavoro a londra, ma questa volta in compagnia di mio figlio, e lui mi porta nel 'banglatown' dove scopro casualmente un'officina singolare: 14bikeco, solo bici fisse, mio figlio mi spiega la filosofia che c'è dietro al 'movimento fisso': è amore a prima vista. Seduto ai tavolini della caffetteria AlVolo, di fronte al laboratorio, mi godo quella vetrina, il lavoro gaudente del laboratorio ciclistico che si alterna alla cottura dei waffles, i 'customers' esigenti che entrano con aria d'intenditori. Ora sono un fissato teorico, spero di diventarlo presto anche pratico. Comincerò regalando a mio figlio una fissa e scoprendone, poco a poco, il fascino discreto. Ma 'movimento fisso', scoperto navigando assetato di nuova conoscenza, mi ha davvero folgorato. Mi dedico alla sua lettura alternando, come in una ritmica pedalata, bici e parole, parole e bici. Avevo già scoperto, grazie al Bauhaus, la strordinaria bellezza dell'essenziale, ora so come metterla in pratica, anche in piccole cose di ogni giorno, come spostarsi "eleganti e leggeri". Grazie, Rotafixa, sei di grande conforto in questa nuova fissa-azione.

The genesis

June 4 2009: yet another business trip to London, but this time together with my son, and he takes me to the 'banglatown' where accidentally I discovered a unique workshop 14bikeco, where they sale only fixed gear; my son explained me the philosophy that is behind the 'fixed movement': it has been love at first sight. Sitting in the cafeteria tables AlVolo, in front of the lab, I enjoyed the work of the laboratory, the jolly cycle that alternates the firing of the waffles, the 'customers' demands that come with air of connoisseurs. Now I'm a fixed theorist, I hope to soon become practical. Start by giving my son a fixed and discovering, little by little, the discreet charm. But 'movimento fisso', discovered by browsing thirsting for new knowledge, was really strucking. I dedicate myself to his reading, alternating, as in a rhythmic pedaling, bike and words, words and bike. I had already discovered, thanks to the Bauhaus, the extraordnary essential beauty, now I know how to put it into practice, even in small things every day, such as travel, "elegant and light."
